A dedicated volunteer for over 20 years, Sheila believes as Henry David Thoreau penned, "…no one is born into this world to do everything, but to do something." Volunteering has always been her something!

She is the recipient of the prestigious Mary Frances Hansen Community Service award presented at the 2013 Ms. Texas Senior America pageant for devoting over 1,100 volunteer hours during a twelve (12) month period. Her favorite charities include Bonham Veteran's Hospital (1996 - present), Child Protective Services (1998 - present), Denton and Lewisville Humane Societies and the Texas Cameo Club (2010 - present).

Her other love is quilting. She enjoys making quilts for family members, foster children, senior citizens and animals in local shelters. As Booker T. Washington said, " If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." Quilting not only lifts her spirits, but those of the quilt recipients.

In support of the Ms. Texas Senior America pageant, she performs with the Cameo Club entertaining senior organizations and senior retirement communities throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. She serves as the club secretary.

Sheila is a proud native Texan born in Dallas. She grew up in the country riding horses, fishing, and exploring the woods. Her first exposure to pageants was in 1986, at the age of 46, when she discovered that there was an entire industry catering to adult pageantry. That year she competed in the Mrs. Texas America pageant and was surprised and honored to be selected as a semifinalist.

Sheila currently serves on the board of The Spectacular Senior Follies, an annual musical Variety Show that showcases performers age 55 and better. She auditioned for, and has been cast as a dancer and showgirl in the previous two shows.

She has been married to Michael for 34 years and they have three children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Sheila is retired from Electronic Data Systems in Plano where she spent 27 1/2 years as a magician, clairvoyant and juggler, a.k.a. Executive Assistant.
